Jaguar XJ 2012 - Gearbox Fault/RDS Flashing
Hi All,
I have a Jaguar XJ and the past week I can be driving in D or S and all a sudden the car will stop accelerating and just rev at me. Sometimes if I switch engine off and on it goes and then it's fine but that's not the case no longer, even if I switch it into R,D or S if just flashes and wont budge and may have to restart 2 or 3 times before it will move. Absolutely baffled as to what it could be.
On a side note and not sure if relevant but I'm also getting Low battery please start engine, this isnt constant but if I'm sat in the car for a few minutes without starting it you can guarantee it'll come on.
I've read on here it could perhaps be the battery, I just want to know what simple checks to do before having to throw money at it.
Thank you for any input.

Check your open circuit voltage on the battery itself. If your voltage is below 12.5v you may need a new battery or have a charging issue. Old batteries can wreak havoc on the electronic controls in these cars and the XJ is known to exhibit very odd and uncharacteristic faults when they have bad batteries.
