Jaguar XJ has check engine light on and the screen says restricted performance it also says low battery and the engine turns off if I put it in drive without accelarating.
I just checked the battery they said it was good, the car still shows low battery in the screen and there is a little bit of white smoke coming out of one the exhaust and it smells like gas
I am not a mechanic but here are my thoughts nonetheless...
It’s seems strange that it says battery low and yet it is fine. But if it is good, then it is good.
It looks like you also have a low fuel rail pressure code. It could be one of your bank 2 fuel pumps (either high or low pressure pump), as you’re getting misfires on your even cylinders. Smell of fuel with smoke I think is consistent with running rich, which is common with misfires. Injectors also seem to go in a pretty dramatic fashion on these cars, so that could also be something to check too.
The big worry is that if you run rich for too long you will destroy your catalytic converter. So I would get this checked out soon as a new fuel pump is cheaper than a new cat.
Perhaps someone else with more mechanic experience can chime in with their thoughts.
How would I know if it is a problem with the catalytic converter? I did drove the car about 2 miles after the it started is that enough to destroy the catalytic converter?

Highly unlikely, I think it requires a fair amount of contamination. But I’d still limit my driving until it’s fixed. Could be a stuck open fuel injector. That happens a fair amount on these forums. That could cause lower rail pressure and misfires across all cylinders on the same bank.
The common recommendation for injector issues is to run a can of BG44K through the fuel tank to try to unclog any debris in the fuel line. Not sure if it can fix this issue but may be worth a try. Otherwise I’d head to the local independent shop to get a proper diagnosis.
I think the main goal is to get it to mix after adding it to your fuel tank. That’s why you pump in gas after adding it.
Id probably pour it into the half tank while standing at the pump, and then fill it up with gas. Then you’ll need to drive it for a bit to let it work.
Again if this doesn’t work, I’d take it in for diagnosis.
Also, were those all the diagnostic codes you got? It looks like the screen may have run out of room?
Sometimes it may take a couple of BG 44K and tanks of gas to clear up the system. IMHO using gas the is not "Top Tier" certified ca lead to fuel system buildup issues. Almost all major brands are certified go to their site to see the brands..
The basic issue here is almost certainly the fact that the "good" battery is not putting out sufficient voltage to properly power the various modules. By far the largest number of complaints in modern luxury cars is related to low battery voltage (and this is the reason that every, yes, every luxury car manufacturer fro Bentley to Jaguar to BMW to...markets the CTEK battery maintainer under their own brand names). The symptoms can be in any system of the car.
In this case: fully charge the battery -fully. Not w, disconnect the battery for a full 30 seconds. Reconnect. This effectively reboots all the modules.
In all probability there is nothing at all wrong with the systems (but the recommendations about the fuel system are valid).
There is a great deal of information about the above on the XK and F-Type forums because this sort of issue crops up more frequently on models used not daily or used for short runs.
