key fob battery replacement
Just got signal indicating I need to replace the battery in my key fob--my auto
is the 2012 XJL.
The manual says it takes a CR 2032 Lithium battery.
Has anyone replaced their battery and if so did you encounter any problems?
Thanks.

I replaced the battery in the fob for my 2009 XKR with no problems. Athough the XJ fob is a different design, they both work the same way. Just make sure that the new CR2032 goes in exactly the same way as the old one came out. No programming required. See the Owners Handbook for details as to how to take the fob apart. Buy a pair of new batteries from your local drug store and check the expiration date. Keep the extra battery in your glove box as a spare. And never buy batteries from no-name vendors on the internet - there are lots of cheap Chinese fake li-ion batteries that are fire hazards. Just ask a pilot.

Thanks much to John and Stuart S. for the advice. I am going to Radio Shack tomorrow and get my replacement batteries and will also keep a couple spares in the glove compartment.
