Default Left Passenger Door Does not Unlock

Hello,

The left side passenger door does not unlock or open from the outside after I exit the car. If I have the key with me, it will open when I pull the handle but even if I press the unlock button on the driver door, it does not open or perhaps I mean unlock. Would this be something sticking or a failed component? I'm not inclined to think it's just sticking as it was working and it stopped at some point maybe a month ago.
The passenger side rear door works as you'd expect. Also, I disconnected the battery for about 20 mins with a jumper wire across the cables but that did not clear the issue.

Any ideas or issues with this circuitry that anyone might be familiar with?
Thanks a bunch! Dave

Probably your door lock actuator. This is a high failure rate part on any vehicle. Do you have access to SDD and can run diagnostics?

I do not have that SDD but I do have a scanner that works for Jaguar only and it showed a code: "B1109 Passenger's door central locking motor". Also I got into the car and saw the door lock light was illuminated and I was unable to open the door from the inside door handle. Pressing the unlock button on the offending door or on the other rear door did not resolve the lock light either and at this point, the only way to open the door is from the outside when I have the key fob in hand. It's like a child safety lock out is enabled. I cleared the code but the lock problem remains.
The lock light stays illuminated.
The lock light stays illuminated.

I would pull the door card and inspect or replace the door lock actuator.

I removed the door latch and outside handle mechanism to remove the latch from the door. There is a small part in the latch that was stuck and was not allowing the inside or outside handles to operate the mechanism that actuates the latch. The electronic system was still operational, just the manual handles/ cables were not working. I cleaned out the mechanism and squirted some lithium oil in there and exercised the system about fifty times. It seems to be working correctly now.
Removing the latch and exterior door handle are a bit of a challenge; now to get it back together! Will probably attempt to finish that up tomorrow.
More later!

Good repair! First time I have heard of a mechanical problem too. It's always been the actuator.
Picture of what broke?

I was hoping to get a picture but the part is small and located down in bottom of the latch mechanism so I was was unable to get a decent photo of it. In fact, I had to move some levers out of the way to just see a portion of the part in question.
The part appears to be spring driven; not positively driven; that part was not moving. Once I blew out the mechanism and sprayed some silicone in there, the part was free to move. ( Prior to the repair, I was only able to open the door electrically if I had the key in the vicinity of the handle.)
I reassembled the latch and door handle mechanism with no small difficulty. For those that have not had this pleasure, it a task to be sure. Took about four hours to get it all back including installing the appropriate covers, cables, and electrical connections besides the general screws and attachments.
Everything is working correctly now. I did have to reset the window shade operation but all's well now.
