Interesting info all you folks have posted about your battery problems on the XJ. I have both a 2011 XK and a 2012 XJL and both cars have exhibited this same "low battery" problem since almost new. Regardless of when the warning comes on, the car (s) always seem to start just fine, but it is annoying. My 1967 GTO has an upgraded radio with additional speakers and will run more than two hours with the motor off and still crank the car. Somehow GM forgot to put a light on the dash telling me to start the car to recharge the battery.

This is quite obviously an old thread, but one that keeps rising to the top. I've ignored it in the past, but since I have a few minutes, I'll step in and my $0.02 worth....

My wife and I took delivery of our first XJ-L on January 2nd of 2012. This was not a car that had been sitting on the lot, in the dealer's inventory. We ordered the car in mid November of 2011, and it arrived about 6 weeks later. We were at the dealer to watch it being unloaded from the car carrier, and took possession of it a couple of days later.

Our dealer's normal "delivery procedure" is to have the car in the showroom, and give you a "walk through" of all the various controls, etc, to get you familiar with all of the basics. During this time, I noticed that the "battery low, start engine" warning light was on. Our sales rep told us not to worry, as this is "somewhat normal". Keep in mind, this is a car that was "just born" within the previous two weeks. After some initial usage, the light never came back on......

Just another note but every car on the dealers show room is hooked to a battery charger.

your gto has no computer modules. Your jaguars 40to50. Totally different electrical requirements

What made you think it was a good idea to resurrect a 7 year old thread? There are now three threads active on essentially the same topic.--- Mark SF

What made you think it was a good idea to be so snarky to another member on this forum?
