Default manually getting into neutral gear

Due to my own stupidity, I manged to short out my battery, and who knows what else while trying to jump start the car. Now it's "bricked" as they say in the cell phone trade, and I need to have it towed. I'm wondering how to manually get it into the neutral gear to facilitate load/unloading via flatbed.

Long version: Car has sat while waiting on some parts to replace water pump, and other associated leaky bits. Needed a jump in order to get it going. I've had a knowledge of a minor water leak in the trunk/boot area, but it's not rained much lately and with the spare and tools in there I didn't notice any moisture. Stupid me for not looking more thoroughly, as there was quite a bit of water touching things it shouldn't. I had hoped that the battery shorted and protected stuff further down the line, but that does not appear to be the case. Installed new battery, and she won't fire up. Currently pulling P0A0F and U0447 codes. There are so many relays in the trunk, and the terminal for the Eco start/stop battery is also down real low. I shudder to think what this is going to cost after towing to the local dealer, but at this point it's outside my wrenching and diagnosing abilities.

Appreciate any thoughts from the commentariat here. I'm hoping to get it towed in the morning, as it's my daily driver. Now that I've returned to working in the office I need it ASAP!

Update on this thread, was told today that the issue is that I shorted the starter motor. $2100 job at the dealership. The water pump, crossover tube, and upper outlet tube, that I had sourced to replace myself is laying in the passenger seat. They were not interested in installing it for me while they already have things apart for the $2100 Starter job.

I would also have them check and ensure the starter cable is good.
I had an issue with my starter and it ended up being the cable that goes from the starter all the way down the side of the car.
There is a connection about halfway down the car on the passenger side.
The tech said the cable was causing the starter failure.

C2D46680 is the part number on the invoice
