MY2011 XJ Head Unit keeps tripping off
Hi,
Thought i would post on here as I have a vert frustrating problem with my 2011 XJ. The Touch Screen keeps trippping off and has to have fault codes cleared by an independant jag place I use.
My question is is there anyway I can reset this thing myself without having to take it in or am I at the point where I should be looking to change the touch screen for a MY2012 in one of xdaves articles.
Obviously with this gone, I have not parking sensors, rear camera etc so it really is a serious problem when it goes
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Paul

Paul, the only way that I can think of to do what you are after is to pull the battery cable off to drop power to the car. When you do this, this will force you to reset the e-brake, auto up/down on the windows and the auto sunroof. not hard things to do, but not sure you want to be doing this every time the screen acts up. I would honestly look into replacing the screen if you know that is the source of the problem.
It would be my luck that when I need the screen the most is when it is going to fail and leave me up the creek without a paddle. replacing the screen isn't that bad. A little pricey, but for not having to spend the money that you are to get the codes cleared should make it a no brainer.

I agree. Losing the screen has meant all my sensors are unavailable and my reversing camera is useless. Parking has become an extra special event due to the size of the car
Ive found a 2014 screen on ebay that Im watching and Ive PM'd xdave on the hope he can confirm its compatible with my 2011 vehicle. If it is, Im having it.
