MY2016 4G sim?

Can the MY2016 work on 4G sim? if not what is required to upgrade from 3G to 4G

No, it is 3G only. Although some JLR models adopted 4G around 2019 the UIP (where the SIM inserts) for the XJ is listed as 3G right up until the end of production.

An alternative is to use the Personal Hotspot on your cell phone. I do that and reap the benefits of the 4G LTE (Verizon Wireless) and get all the "LIVE" features of my 17 Jag XJL (Supercharged).
