Default Navigation Map Versions

I just took posession of my new 2013 XJ Super Charged dream car. I love the vehicle with one exception, the navigation map/software is out of date. It does'nt even have my home address and I've lived there for over two years. My $130 Garmin has no problem finding me.
Can anyone tell me how to find the version number or date of the map I have?

I had to keep a Garmin in my 2009 as the nav system was useless and my dealer couldn't help me use it. The new one is a great improvement but still not as good as Garmin, but it is useless if they don't keep it current.

I shouldn't have to buy an update for a new car I just bought a week ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Read the following thread. It is for an XF but it is the same nav gen 2.1 as we have on the XJ. The XF owner was able to get the upgrade for free since it was an out of date 2010 version of the maps that was installed on his new at the time 2012.

Hate to tell you that your new navigation is just as bad as the 2009. I know, I have/had them both. The version in my 2012 XJL is giving me very wrong and dangerous instructions, wanting to make me turn into deserted forest roads, instead of keeping me on the main highway, like Google nav or even my Garmin would. Then it tries to compound the problem by insisting on subsequent turns, including U-turns on freeways and bridges. Horrible!!!

Last week when my car was in for its 1 year service I mentioned to the Service Manager about the navigation problem and he simply shook his head, saying;

"Oh, no; don't even go there! It is ridiculous!"

So, if the Service Manager thinks that the Jaguar navigation is ridiculous...???

Suggestion: Keep your Garmin or invest in a Google nav device.

Congratulations on your new purchase. I believe there is a way to memorize a location in your gps system even though there is no address associated with it.
