Default Navigation Map to Virtual Dash?

I got myself a 2015 plate XJ at Christmas from a well known non Jag dealership. I'm delighted with the car apart from one issue. The navigation map should jump across to the virtual dash, and it doesn't. I go through the procedure of going into settings and I put the check mark in the box requesting it to go onto the dash. No joy though. Is this likely to be a software issue? The car is still under warranty. Any other ideas what it might be if its not software related? All other functions on the dash work perfectly.

Don't know if you have driven it after selecting the option, the map only opens in the Rev Counter area when you actually approach a junction or roundabout, it also needs to have a route planned as well.
Give it another try after punching in a destination and going for a drive.

A 2015 should have the full screen maps, but being in the UK you could have a 15 plate that is an earlier car, so we'll need more information to determine what type of display you should have on your instrument cluster.

When you open the side menu using the steering wheel buttons, is the menu rectangular(2015+) or curved (earlier style)?
If rectangular you should have the full screen maps. If curved you will only see maps in the rev circle as mentioned above.

Older curved menu

2015+ rectangular menu

I miss the earlier speedo. Why couldn't they have made that an option?

Hello, Thanks for your reply.
Its the rectangular version I have.
I programmed in a destination as suggested in an earlier reply but no joy. Shows a black virtual dash with the leaper where the maps should be.

As you can see the full screen leaper in place of the maps, it appears the IMC is not sending the video.
I would get the DTCs read and see if you have any video signal loss codes reported on the instrument cluster. If so take it out and check the blue video connector is securely located at both the cluster and IMC in the trunk LHS. If the cables look ok you could try a map recovery using the jaguar.here.com USB download process. It is the IMC software that sends the video to the cluster though so if you don't have any SOTA updates to install that will require connecting to SDD at a dealer if you don't have the equipment yourself, and even then JLR have suspended IMC updates base phase 2.5 for the X351 until end of May at the earliest now due to the coronavirus so if you are running a later version you will not yet be able to recover it.

Default Xdave = Legend.

Xdave, your knowledge around this system is incredible.
I have a very similar issue but I haven’t yet come across a solutions that fixes it. Arrhhhhh.

I have a 2013 XJ
old fashion dash, so the Nav should only jump across to the left hand binnacle only when approaching a junction.
but the strangest thing is, every now and again it dose work. Only very rarely though. Which leads me to believe it must be a loose wire.

I have tried all the wires behind the MFD and the IMC, but no joy. Where would you go next?

also, is it possible to just upgrade the dash only to the newer version? Preferably just a plug and play option, no reprogramming.

many thanks.

Mike.

Until you have hooked up SDD you really don't know what's going on. These are immensely complicated cars with multiple bus systems running all over.
No telling what the problem is and it may be software related too?
If no codes post back to see where to go next.
