New car to the collection 2011 XJL
Well I am very much a newbie here, and posted an introduction to myself in the main forum area. We have a new member to our collection at the shop I work in, its a 2011 XJL. Beautiful car, rides great, runs amazing, There are only two of us that work for the Collector, and he is an old time, old school mechanic. Therefor with this car being mainly modernized with "Them computers" as he says, It has been tasked to me to figure out how to service and take care of the vehicle. Im not in over my head yet, however, talking with a Jag Tech in Kansas City, MO he stated that they have a machine that changes the oil in these vehicles. I understand that it does not have a drain plug, nor dipstick. But does it actually take a machine to do the oil service versus me to do the oil service??? Just curious as to what our options are, and if there is such a machine, can we purchase one??? Lots of questions, hope someone can give me direction.
Real easy for the next 4 years. Take it to the nearest dealer. Service there is free and I believe for MY2011 it includes brake service. Look at the platinum coverage booklet that should have come with the car. This way you get to drive the car and tell your boss what a bear it was to change the oil...lol...
So, jaguar of Kansas City, Mo will service the car free for four years even though it was purchased used in florida? Also, when does the four year mark start? From the original purchase date back in 2011? What paperwork would be required? I guess i just didnt know that the warranty or service transferred to the new owner. I will search the car over for the platinum service package. Thanks for your help, and I agree, I wouldnt mind driving the car three hours one way to Kansas City once every 15k miles. Especially if its going to be free, then he's only paying me hourly. Thanks for your help.
Actually Jaguar MY2011 cars scheduled maintenance costs are covered from the in service date for 5 years or 50K miles which ever comes first regardless where the car was originally purchased. The jaguar dealer network has access to the service records and in service date of the vehicle. You would need proof of ownership ie: vehicle registration. If you give me the vin I can check the in service date.

Well got ahold of KC and they were able to verify that the car is covered until may 2016. Its not due till next may, so I guess the boss can decide what he wants to do! Either way thank you for all of your help on here!!!
