New engine - Help!
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some collective wisdom on the current market value for a rather unique X351. I’ve owned this car for 2.5 years, and I feel it's a bit of a statistical anomaly!
The Car: Model: 2022 Registered (72 Plate) Jaguar XJL Portfolio.
Given that this is essentially a "new" 2022 XJL with the most expensive repair already handled by the factory, what do we think is a fair enthusiast price as it stands?
I see 2019 models with 50k miles asking £30k-£35k, but given the 2022 plate and 0-mile engine, would an asking price of £75k+ be seen as "collector territory" or wishful thinking?
Would love to hear if you think the "factory reset" on the engine adds a premium overall, or if the failure history is a detractor despite the brand-new replacement!
Thanks

- The "Unicorn" Factor: As many here know, production ceased in 2019, but this unit was one of the very last to be registered. I think it is likely one of the youngest XJs on the road today.
- Spec: V5 says Portfolio, but it’s a high-option launch spec: Rear entertainment screens, individual rear seating, massage functions, etc.
- Mechanical Status: At <37,500 miles, the car suffered the dreaded engine failure.
- The Good News: Jaguar Approved has provided 100% contribution for a brand-new crate engine. The main dealer is fitting it as we speak.

It's a 3.0 diesel, zero miles and a 2022 (72) plate!
It is hard to value anyway because it has 3 years on all the others, but mostly curious of the value impacts (as in gone up/down or around the same)!

My unprofessional opinion is that a non-numbers matching car would decrease its value. However as it has had a brand new engine from Jaguar, I think this is quite harsh so it is worth the same as it had the original engine. If it had say 230k and then had a new engine in it then great but 37k should be "just run in miles" so not that valuable in my uneducated opinion. I would suggest valuing it as a 2022 with 37k on it and be able to explain to any potential buyer with a good story as to why it is a bargain with a new engine in it
More worrying for me with my XJD having 50k on the clock, what went wrong with the engine and am I on borrowed time

3.0L version of AJD-V6 / DT20 engine is actually very robust but as any engine: Will fail if not serviced.
Mine have over 340t km (212t Miles) on odometer and still running with original MAF:s, EGR:s, turbos and exsample original waterpump. Engine running smooth, its dry and no issues in yearly MOT smoke test or starting up from -27C (-16F) temp. (noise it made on that temp is biblical)
Counting out service parts, oils, filters, belts and rollers i have changed three failed parts on engine bay: One solenoid and two intake plastic parts. (connection flange/joint between them failed) I would say Ford/PSA made really good upgrade from 2.7 litre to 3.0 litre version.
Change oils in max 15t km (9t miles) and use recommened low ash Castrol C1 oil and you are good.
