Yeah, I got the email but deleted it. Too "out-of-the-box" for me too.
The statement makes me think of the direction Oldsmobile took just before they went out of business.
They chose a path of forgetting the customers that supported them historically and instead of adding to that customer base, they went for completely replacing them.
Unfortunately that didn't work too well.
I'm sure some will adore the new sales angle as with the commitment to go all-electric, I'm just not in that subset.
I had to supress a laugh at "copy nothing". Their SUVs are indistinguishable from all others. You could slap a Chevrolet bowtie on a -PACE and no one would know the difference.
Ironically, in a high-end monthly magazine there is a double-page spread inside the front cover of the current edition featuring the latest ofering from Land Rover. With headings like "Where Sense of Style Meets Sense of Place" and "Driven to Delight", they introduce the Range Rover SV Carmel Edition.
The two ad campaigns are polar opposites. Who wants to put money on the "J"? I'll take the "LR".
That kind of takes Jaguar out of the race for a lot of us looking for a car of the sort that many of us Jaguar owners would want.
There is still Mercedes Benz, BMW and some others that can be considered, but to us they aren't the same as a Jaguar - at least what Jaguar was for decades.
But if they're gone, we can only work with what is still available - and it looks like Jaguar won't have any with internal combustion engines that we'll be looking for.
I would be more open to all-electric cars if only they were designed as I first imagined they would be, with battery cell packs that would quickly be removed & replaced at "gas stations".
I pictured a car pulling up to the station and the underground rack would remove the drained cell from the bottom - then install the fully-charged cell for the next 300 or 400 miles, and it'd take maybe a minute.
The power cells would not be part of the car and would be part of the over-all configuration designed by government and car manufacturers as a universal standard that all makes & models share.
The power cells would be owned & maintained by the electric equivalent of gasoline companies - so car owners wouldn't have to worry about their cars (permanent hard-wired) battery aging.
And technological improvements in battery design would benefit all electric car owners, not only the ones that buy a whole car after the new design is released.
This is where the Government(s) really failed the whole "green - save the planet" electric vehicle effort - to think about how to facilitate its success & implement industry-wide standards to support it.
But as it stands, it's a fool's game to buy a car with a fixed battery and all the baggage that comes with it.
). If this video is correct, the "New XJ" is pretty much what the 2010-2019 was, just in electric form. Hell, the body looks almost identical. There are a few changes on the interior to go with the Jaguar planned "minimalistic" interior. So, plan on lots of screens so they can hide the buttons there.
I guess I am more interested in the "GT" that they also show. Now that would be eye catching. The razor headlights, 2 doors, racecar like lines. Put a petrol motor in that, we may be talking. Granted, not sure if this is coming out or not as the video says that they are releasing an XJ, an SUV, and a limo. The 2 door doesn't seem to fit into one of those 3.
Watching the video, I do not think Jaguar has quite settled on the final look. But, I do feel it will be very close to what the outgoing XJ looked like overall. Not that it is a bad design, I think with the whole "rebranding", that would have been the time to make the step change and do something that sets you apart.
), I may be wrong and what I think of as the "GT" (2 door sports car) is what the XJ is going to become and what has the body lines of the old XJ is going to be the limo? The first video is not specific and looking at what is labeled on the cars, that is where I am confused as the first video has "XJ" written on the 4 door sedan. If the second video is correct (not holding my breathe), it is saying that the 2 door car is going to come with either the supercharged V8 or a hybrid engine as an option. Could we be seeing cracks in the "2026 will be all electric" shell? The info is still early. guess we need to wait until Dec 2 when they officially release atleast one of the cars with what it is going to look like.

This concept was embraced by an (I think) Israeli company. They even made some prototypes back in the early 'teens. But it never caught on. Auto manufacturers do their best to capture and imprison customers with things like "rental" heated seats, exorbitantly-priced repair software and even unique charging plug designs. In 2011, Nissan developed a pinout for their new Leaf in cooperation with the International Electrotechnical Commission. The IEC is responsible for the universal 115v power cord plug, for example. Tesla, of course, had to go their own way with their own proprietary charging format.

Yeah, that "Copy Nothing!" slogan from the new ad already looks bogus. If the video you posted is close to what we'll see next week, it seems that the new sedan will have a BMW front grille and Lexus' tail lamps.
Happy Thanksgiving to our US members!

Well, here is the official release of what Jaguar has in mind for the future. Per the video from someone that got to touch the car, the one we would get will be 4 doors and supposedly fairly close in shape as to what this one is. Like is pointed out in the video, why does the car have such a long hood? While the video does not mention this, I am guessing that this may be for a potential ICE engine? Supposedly not, but I wonder if that is part of a back up plan that Jaguar has hidden away. Be curious what others think of the body lines.
Found this video on Youtube (A Closer Look! 2025 JAGUAR XJ EV Models - Here's Everything You Need To Know.!). I like it! As far as the long hood perhaps it's a large frunk for road trips, and maybe there's a cabana option with two comfortable chases to kick back in while at the beach or at the pitch while watching a 1-0 nothing nail biter.
