Default Newbie Q...

Hello Everyone,

This is my first Jag (XJ 2012) and I was hoping you fine folks can provide some guidance to my inquiries.

1. Headlights, I am pretty confident I have Xenon for high and low beams. But I can not for the world figure out the LED "Looking" lights in the headlights. How do I make them come on, what settings do I use?

2. Key FOB, the vehicle only came with one key and I was hoping to purchase a brand new key fob with bar codes from the internet due to lower cost. Will the dealership or can the they reprogram?

3. Service indicators, I can from a BMW 7 series and there were a full menu of what i needed to service and at either months to service or miles to services. I can not local this within the menus. Can someone pls provide some guidances?

Any insight would be appreciated greatly!

Regards,

Exam23

1. The LED lights only come on when the headlights are on. They are not daytime running lights (I assume you are referring to the horizontal line of lights that run along the bottom of the headlight)

2. You will need the dealer to code a new key to the car, regardless of where you purchase it. Personally, I wouldnt trust a key off of ebay, but that's just me.

3. Its been a while since I looked, but I dont think there is a miles to service indicator. Its a fairly "dumb" system and doesn't track individual items like oil, filter, etc like some other manufacturers. If there is anything at all, it would be in the main service menu that is only available when the car is in park.

Thanks for the quick reply.

With regards to the lights, I was actually speaker of the light next to the headlamp and not the horizon led strip... An clue?

With the service indicator, when the car is at a stand still. Only oil level is display and nothing more...

"another_geek" is right...the round strips of LED lights (closer to the grill) are the turn lights, which flash orange even though they look like white LED bulbs. Then at the corner of the light housing, next to the orange triangle strips, are the lights which comes on automatically at low speeds when you turn the steering wheel, for extra light during cornering.
Put your car in park, switch on the ignition, and then flip the turn indicators and you will see what we are talking about.
