no compressor sound
i've been around cars for 40+ years but this is my first experience with a machine this sophisticated.my xjl sits nice without any warning lights but i never hear the air ride compressor working or air releasing.just wanted to know if this is something to monitor or is it ok as is.thanks all in advance.this is a great forum with helpful people.
As a matter of fact, my wife's pre-X351 car (1997 Oldsmobile Aurora) also has a rear air suspension, and it's just as hard to detect. As old as that is, I've never had to replace its air shocks or the compressor.
I hope the XJs rear suspension is as durable and reliable.

These air systems are nearly completely silent. I believe the air compressor will not engage until a certain speed on the X351 unless critically low.
We don't see many air suspension related failures on the X351 as opposed to the previous model. Air leaks can kill a compressor quickly, but will display a fault if detected. The calibration of the air suspension can be reset in SDD as well as the ride height.

The air compressor will not run until the car reaches 18 mph (30 kph), it runs for 3-5 secs, or until the accumulator is charged. (Normal conditions).
If you want to test your system, open the trunk and sit on the ledge. After about 20-30 secs you will feel the car lift slightly as it self levels.
