Noise when applying brake
Hi all,
Today i noticed, when stationary, there is a "clunk" type noise coming from the centre console around the gear selector each time I apply the break, is this normal?
Thanks in advance

The key information is "when stationary". Pressing the brake pedal when stationary and not in gear, flicks a switch that turns on the brake lights, but also activates a solenoid in the gearshift mechanism assembly allowing you to move the lever from Park to a gear setting. Most cars with auto transmissions have this nowadays. However, I don't hear this on my car, (the previous model to yours), so maybe worth investigation. My shift mechanism is totally different; yours is the "rising gears knob" type as also fitted to XFs and others.

My 2014 3,0D does the clunk not when I break but when I engage the reverse OR when its parked for more than a day, when it moves for the first time.
Talked to Jaguar Portugal about this and they said its normal - my car is under warranty ( 2014, as yours ) and they said that had zero problems changing the gearbox if was faulty, they checked it and said it is all ok.
Also, not really a clunk but more of a "thump"
