I can't recall a report of the oil cooler leaking, so it is almost certainly the gasket (Part 3). You should also replace the two coolant O-rings (Parts 2 & 6):
When the engine is running, pressurized oil can squirt out against the block and heads and splash back onto the cooler. The oil runs down from the sloped sides of the block and heads into the valley, but splashed oil collects on the horizontal flange of the cooler.

Thanks is knock sensor failure common? dealer wants $120.00 each so I would rather not replace unless its common failure

I can't say that I've heard of many KS failures on the 5.0L engines, but while you're there it's definitely worth thinking about. I believe the original knock sensors are by Denso. Rock Auto has NTKs for about $21.00 each plus tax and shipping...

Thanks again I forgot about checking on RockAuto
Do you know the torque specs of the oil cooler ?
if your valve cover gasket was never changed you are approaching the 10 year mark, and that is usually the first
to leak. I would clean that area thoroughly and re-inspect
