Default Overheating

So today again the car leaked the coolent somehow I top it up and drove the car to work and there it started leaking alot so I took the car to mechanic nearby had to stop in between and called the recover truck to tow the car but the engine overheated all kind of steams were there and when switched it off it didn't want to start stand push the start button nothing happens car just switch off by itself. I have been looking for the leaks but was not able to find one but today.

And replaced the part

But all the previous days when I was looking for a leak couldn't see it even when the car started for like an hour or so. I don't believe this was culprit in the first place I believe this can be today because of overheat also the temp needle is mostly in the middle then it will go high suddenly.

I feel like either the issue is with water pump or thermostat valve
As just a day before it was going high on the temperature but I didn't see any leak from this pipe I was water coming out from the cap of coolent reservoir.

Do you think the engine is still fine after this because it sound fine but I am not sure as it was not tuening on and only after it colled down it start again.

Did you run the engine with no coolant in it, and if so, for how long, (miles) ? Overheating is very bad for aluminium engines like yours, as it can lead to block distortion.

So sorry to hear about the condition of your newly-acquired XJ. It is sad for the majority of the people who frequent the Forum, as we generally have varying degrees of affection of these beautiful vehicles.
Considering that you bought it about 2 weeks ago and began having engine problems the day after you bought (from your descriptions in your earlier posts), I would guess that it either had pre-existing conditions with the engine, OR it just happened to have a catastrophic failure the day after you bought it (not likely).
I suggest you read through existing posts in this forum that describe cooling failures and other engine failures, to familiarize yourself with the condition of your engine.
You are not the first to have your engine fail in this way, and if you hope that everyone on the forum will re-post all of the existing experiences and descriptions, you will be left with only a small bit of what has been learned and discussed.

If there is any recourse that supports purchase of an 11 year-old vehicle in the UAE or if there was any warranty from the seller, you may want to consider that quickly, especially if there is a time limitation after the purchase.

With the age of the car I would plan to replace ALL the cooling hoses and pipes. Otherwise you will have to replace them one by one and the labor charges are the real killer on this. They are wear items and we now have some very nice life time Aluminum cooling parts in the after market.
These are highly recommended.
