Default P2187 P2189 rough idling

Hey folks,

My 2013 5.0 has this engine light just came out of the blue... P2187 and P2189. It also seems like I am seeing some smoke coming from the passenger side tail pipe. I have a Icarsoft. Is there any livestream data I can check out?

Thank you

Hi, both banks (ie all cylinders) too lean.
I suspect an airleak somehere after air flow control.

Any Idea, how to check before I take it to a shop? the idle was running a little rough until I give it a little gas and suddenly everything is well. I tried cleared the codes and it seems to be running fine.

You could check the fuel trims to see if it really is running lean. You could also check the fuel pressure.

Several people have found the flexible plastic ducting from the air boxes can crack. Due to age and engine movement. Maybe a simple check of the plastic ducting can save you some money?
Since it's on both banks concentrate on the parts that are shared by both sides because we have two air boxes. I would double check the air box lids too.

Update: took it to the mechanic and they confirmed that it's the PVC diaphragm. Turns out it's pretty common on these cars. It's all fixed now.

Thanks for reporting back. Yes that has started showing up more and more and looks like it will be a common but not to expensive repair.
