On my 16 XJR I can’t recall if the long coolant housing was in like I have the new aluminum one or flipped like the pvc one in my hand? I can’t see it in any of the pics I took. Don’t even know the proper name of it.
also this bracket and line the bolts to the back do I need to connect this somehow or are those both from the symposer I removed and I just cap them ? Thanks! See pics.
No, do not cap any breather tubes.
It's a snorkel that allows for expansion of the air within the transmission as the transmission & fluid heat up & cool down.
Since a transmission operates largely on pressures, if you restrict or interfere with management of internal pressures, you'll impact transmission operation.
If you capped off the breather for the transmission, you'd cause transmission problems, either immediate or long-term, maybe both.
Let it breath.
And you may run into other similar breather tubes for other things like the differential. Same applies to those, and you could identify those by also being rigid tubing with a snorkel-like 180 degree curve at the top..
