There is a hose from the coolant reservoir back to the thermostat tower for vacuum return of the coolant as the engine cools. There is a second connection on the reservoir that is not open and is not used.

The only other vacuum line is from the part load breather orifice, on the forward of the left valve cover back to the throttle body.

What 'control valves' are you referring to?

I hope it was just a matter of semantics, but there are vacuum lines and coolant bleed and vent lines that look the same on an XJ8. Be sure you make no connection between them. You are talking about the small lines that connect to the colling system, right? They are not engine vacuum lines.

I am referring to the engine vacuum lines starting at vacuum reserve tank below the air box and continuing around to valves below driver side panel(next to master cylinder. Thanks

I seem to remember that it is a VENT to the motor housing.
