Default Rear left air susp. fault

Hello, the other day my left side rear air suspension decided to give up, you can hear the air leaking out of it as the car slowly goes into sad mode.
My question is, I have a select warranty, but it's a bit clouded to if it would be covered or not, my guess is that it would not be covered, the woman on the phone didn't really know.

The car has only done 60,000 miles and is a 2011 plate with FJSH having had a service a few months ago, I can't imagine air susp. having such a short life? Obviously if it was driven on pot-hole infested roads, which it hasn't been.

I've got to take it into the dealer on the 23rd but thought maybe some information could be useful here to what I would expect.

Thanks

Age is a factor, because rubber parts deteriorate over time regardless of mileage.

Without a proper inspection, it's impossible to say for sure what to expect before you get to the dealer. You might also want to get a second opinion and estimate from a qualified independent Jaguar mechanic.

As for your "select warranty", because your car is over 8 years old, I suspect that it's not from the manufacturer (Jaguar) and is from a third party unrelated to Jaguar. If so, then even if you bought it from an authorized Jaguar dealer, it's really an extended service contract that's like an insurance policy with deductibles, exclusions and limitations. Those contracts are intentionally vague and ambiguous to enable that company to deny claims. So, the first thing you need to do is read that contract and make notes of any provisions that might be used to deny your claim so you can refute them. Take notes of your telephone conversations and if you disagree with that company's decisions send them a letter confirming your conversations. Depending on the amount of money involved, you may need to take legal action against them for breach of contract. That's why your written records are important.

If you bought that extended coverage from a Jaguar dealer, they are your best help to convince that third-party insurance company to cover your claim.

Thanks for your reply, I bought the car from the dealer a year ago, they supplied it with their franchise warranty rather than an approved Jaguar warranty. Specifically it's the Sytner Select warranty.
I'm just surprised the life of the part would be that short. We live and learn.

Sytner are a non-franchised dealer and the warranty is provided by them.

I spoke to jaguar again and they said they wouldn't know until they've inspected the car, so there may be a glimmer of hope though I won't get my hopes too high. I'd assume I'd have to pay the extortionate diagnostic fee if it isn't covered.

An update!

So it looks as if, possibly, there is no damage to the air spring itself, but an air hose. It would seem a mouse has climbed into my boot during the night and nibbled the green air pipe.

I had a mechanic look at it whilst he was here doing another car and noticed that the air was coming more from inside the boot rather than the spring itself.
But only the left side seem to of lost air, I would therefore assume that each side has its own air pipe? I noticed the pipe on the left was green and another pipe that was orange, I take it for the right side.
Though now the compressor only runs for a few seconds then cuts out, and is quite loud unlike before. He's going to change the pipe and hopefully that's all.

That is great news and should be an easy fix too.
We don't see any rear airbag problems with this generation of the XJ.
As you know the prior XJ with the 4 wheel air suspensions were nightmares!!
