Help please air ride gone wacky
Any insight would be appreciated greatly. Just a note that I searched the forum but didn't find same symptoms. Driving my 2004 xj8 home from work today the car started to ride like a buck board and the left rear air bag filled to max jacking up rear end and the front right sank to the ground. Here's what I can tell you:
- air compressor runs and times out as it should (new piston ring from Andy installed about 1 year ago).
- checked all the ride height sensors and nothing seems broke or out of place
- disconnected the battery for 1/2 hr to clear computer no help
- left front and right rear seem to be at proper height
- car now sits with 58000 miles on it
Thanks in advance everyone.

Could this also be a valve block issue? I'm still trying to figure out all the possible causes of one or more high corners.
Thanks,
Don
Thanks for the reply. Questions - why would rear sensor deflate the front right air bag and jack up the left rear? - air suspension fault message comes on how do i get the codes without going to the dealer? Thanks again.
Hi Don - yes, absolutely the valve block could be suspect in this case. Electrical connections/air lines and doesn't hurt to check the ground points in this area.
More than likely the codes are going to be related to the struts your experiencing issues with.
Once you have the code(s) we can be of more assistance.
Thanks for the help so far guys. The car is now at dealership should get looked at on Friday. I will be back in touch when I have the codes/more info from them. In the mean time have a good one!

Ok, long overdue conclusion to this problem. After dealer diagnostics (actual codes unknown) the car needed a left rear ride height sensor and is now back to normal. Dealer stated the car had over 55 stored codes so they deleted all of them to just start at ground zero so to speak.

Hi Blake,
Thanks for reporting back with your successful resolution! We're all trying to learn as much as we possibly can about the air suspension in the interest of saving ourselves lots of time and money. Looking at your initial symptoms and the fix that resolved the problem adds important empirical data to the body of knowledge. THANK YOU!
Cheers,
Don
