Default Rear tie rod bushings

Had a friend who works on cars look over my 2015 XJ. Said the rear tie rod bushings looked bad. I plan to have a local shop who works on Benz, BMW etc price the work. Any ideas on estimated cost? Saw the tie rods on line for $105 each. Car has 27k miles but the photo look bad

Good idea and while your in there change the rear sway bar end links too.
In red on the picture.

Both are common and not too expensive wear parts.

Probably unlikely, but if the car was still under a Jaguar extended warranty it should cover that replacement.

I know cause I used it once for that on my CPO X350. Even though the rods were not "loose" the boot cracks were still a failure. I made them replace a lot of parts with cracked boots. Cost like 3K+ back then, free to me though.

As others have said, this is very common on the Jag, and other vehicles, and damaged rubber boots are not good because the grease gets out and dirt gets in causing accelerated wear to the joints. But that being said, if you don't drive a lot, it can take many years for the boot cracking to cause extra play in those suspension joints, so it's not an emergency fix unless the play is there. I had a 1998 Lotus Esprit with all the boots cracked for many years, but it only had 37K miles on it. The suspension was rock solid all the way until I sold it last year.

If the joint is is in good shape you could just replace the rubber boots.

No you cannot find them from Jaguar. Try ebay or amazon. You could also search X350,XF and other Forums all use the same tie rod.

The labor is the bigger cost, so better to just replace the parts in case due to the wear they already have on them so you don’t have to do the labor again.

Don’t forget the wheel alignment afterwards.
