Update: Got the replacement unit from Jez yesterday and it worked right away. He refunded me for the return shipping of the faulty unit as well. Great seller.

An update on my install. It took a bit of time to arrive, but given the "China Virus" issues, I guess not too bad. My belief is that it took the Royal Mail a couple of days to get to our (U.S>) shores, and several weeks for our fantastic United States Postal Service to find us in Florida. Oh, well, -- it was in good shape.

For you magical, mechanical, knowledgeable, technical people -- I wish I was able to install this unit with the flair you described. But, with my 10 numbed thumbed fingers, it took me more time than I would have liked. Mostly a fear of destroying something in the process.. Any way, it all worked out. I did purchase a couple of plastic wedges to help with removing the cover from the trunk/boot, and wonder of wonders, it went smoothly. The dis-assembly of the manual cable release took a bit of time figuring out how it came apart (not a lot of "wiggle" room).

All of that said, the result is simply amazing! I love it, especially when my knee hits the release on the bottom of the dash and I can immediately close it again without getting out. One of the things I did before reassembly of the boot cover, was to tie a string to the manual release cable and another string to the connecting wire for the trunk lid button, which allowed me to more easily reattach them properly.

Thanks to all of you, first for the very idea of this unit, plus some of the hints to install.

Mine showed up on Monday, and I installed it today. Pretty straightforward task, and it works exactly as it should!

Just a little question before buying this part.
If it's installed, and the car is locked, you can still open the lid without unlocking the car, and still close the lid at least with the button at the bottom of the lid without unlocking the car?
I regularly take something out of the trunk or put something in while the car is locked in the garage, and I don't want to unlock and lock the car than all the time.
Thanks in advance!

Yes as long as you have the key fob is with you. Can close trunk from inside button, outside button or remote button. Where this module is awesome is when you start driving and realize your knee inadvertently hit the trunk open button next to the steering wheel. Instead of going through the whole hassle of stopping and getting out, a simple push of same button while still driving instantly closes the trunk (plus it feels right in a car of this class).

Ok, but also still when you're outside the car with the car itself locked? I understood different here above...
I understood that first you have to unlock the car than...if that's so, it's not very handy for me.
I never touch any button with any knee in any car. ;-)

With the car fully locked, you can open and close the trunk from the remote or the outside button. I just did it to confirm.

Okido! Thanks for the trouble! :-))

Do you also have Jez' data for me, to contact him directly?
The stuff I see on E-bay looks different and without the plugs than what I see here in the pictures.
And with all those plugs attached it will be much more easy. ;-)

Thanks a lot!

John,

Looks like I missed the boat! I do have a legit reason: I just bought the 2016 last weekend, so still learning quite a bit and quite a bit more to go! Does Jez still sell this?

The other one looks more complicated to put, look at the plugs and cables.

Pressing my remote button doesn't always close the trunk. Sometimes it takes a few hits. Anybody else have this problem?

Remote Boot Closer

Mine is still working great. Hardly can remember not using it.
Much more useful than I figured it would be.
