Reverse Camera Upgrade?

Does anyone have any thoughts on a reverse camera swap or know of an upgrade protocol? In my limited experience it is very often set up with some control wire and a run of coax cable.

I am am loving every part of my 2012 XJL supercharged, except the backup camera. My 2016 fusion which i just turned in had much higher resolution and clarity.

if anyone has information on part comparability I would surely be appreciative. I prefer to keep it OEM finish rather than getting a wireless backup cam but I might end up doing that.

I don't know if there was a change in the backup cam from 2012 to 2013, but I'm very pleased with the display and functionality of my 2013. Have you cleaned the lens lately?

I don't think they've rolled the part number for some time. But, yes I've cleaned it. It just seems like the brightness is way too high.

yeah idk about newer than 2012 but i agree the camera is terrible. my 2012 Maxima even had a clearer camera than this. it gets washed out really bad on sunny days.

Ive asked this a couple times and no one really has an answer. im not sure if the cable from the camera to the screen is capable of higher resolutions or not.

I never did check to see if they are 2 different part numbers or not.

I'm doing some research right now, looks like ours has the same base PN as Ford, still. Maybe I can get to the point where either fixture or pinout can impact this further. I am a novice with camera technology for the most part, so i am asking around.
