Default Service schedule?

When should I take my car in for service? Is there a reminder in the car to take it in or do you have to take it at a certain milage or time frame? I haven't had one single issue with my car and havent needed to take it in, I have had it since December and driven 4k miles on it so far. I'm guessing I should take it in by 10k miles or 1 year.

I received a letter from the dealer to schedule the first service but it seems to soon to me.

2011 Jaguar's. it has to be one year from your deliery date or when the "service message comes on your gauge cluster. thats the only time you can get your free service. if you get a oil change in between the time or mileage of the vehicle next service them you'll have to pay for it and the dealer can not reset the oil life counter. oil life counter can only be reset if it's by time or mileage for your vehicles service. thats the Jaguar Platinum Coverage. the saleman should of explained it to you about it. you should not have to pay for a Scheduled Maintenance which is every 15k miles or once a year for 5years/50k miles.
