When starting my 2011 XJL V8 the engine goes immediately to about 2500 RPM when the start button is pushed then drops back to 1500 cold and about 800 when warm. This seems like a very high RPM when first starting and may not be good on the engine. Is this normal and if not is there a way of adjusting it? Thanks.

Yep, normal for the AJ133 V8 from the get go (2009) no matter what car it was plonked in.
