I am trying to replace thermostat housing with metal one but thermostat housing will not come out of hose with metal ring is around. Have any one come into a issue with the thermostat housing and if so what's you method of getting it off.
Thank you Sir. I will try. I'm getting ready to put the rear metal coolant pipes on. Should I put a sealant around the gasket for extra precaution or just put them on without any sealant. I have high heat rtv.
Yes. Well it's your car?
I also installed the after market rear water manifold but went with the factory seals. They are way different than just a standard O-ring? Why Jaguar went to all that trouble I am not sure? But O-rings never use any sealer or goo. Lubrication before installation? Yes of course.
Here is what I used on my rear water manifold.
This was after going through a very detailed rear water manifold thread. Not much cost to use the right part after I got the part number.
I also learned in that thread to check the diameter of the fluid passages. They were severely restricted (Tapered down in diameter) and I drilled them out since I also used the two piece manifold so I could split it and check. I had no clue about this until that thread came out either.

Since I was waiting for the rear coolant pipe part to come in. I decided to go ahead and work on putting in the metal thermostat housing while waiting on the coolant pipe part to come in. Nope it was not happening it would not budge but I'm going to try to mallet and see if it will come off that way.
