The funny thing is that my car is the only really luxurious thing about my lifestyle. I have a cheap Citizen watch!

But I also don't have an X351 now so it has no bearing on this thread...

In all seriousness, threads like this pop up in every car forum and guess what, in the watch forums the question is reversed and the OP typically asks what kind of car the members drive.

It seems to me that there is a relation of some sort between cars and watches and people like to see what others are wearing. Not a bad thing, just a curious thing...

But I will say this; not all men or woman who drive nice or expensive cars care about wearing expensive watches. I have a friend who owns almost $2M in cars but wears a cheap and faded gold plated Mercedes branded watch that the dealer gave him when he bought a Merc 11 years ago. Couldn't care less about wrist bling but his garage is another story all together...

 

I like the one I received as a premium for renewing my Automobile Magazine subscription. It has a genuine plastic band, claims to be waterproof, performs about 10 functions (none of which I can figure out how to use) and as long as I'm in its time zone, I can use it to tell the time.

I'll admit I pop into this thread when it shows up in the Current list because, well, I am curious. I am not a watch person in any way shape or form.

I have a titanium citizen that I wear most every day, not as a fashion statement but just because I want to know what time it is without fishing my phone out of my pocket.

It was a college graduation present and has a nice scratch in the crystal from when I neglected to take it off one day while moving a transmission.

That is probably the most telling thing about it. Watches don't do it for me but I will spend silly amounts of money on my cars, far in excess of what any sane person would call reasonable.

So who am I to judge someone for liking a nice watch?

 

iPhone 5s. Or for special occasions, me Grandad's engraved gold 1970 Garrard Automatic (retirement gift from the firm).

Hamilton Khaki Field automatic. I've had an Omega, some higher end Seikos and a Tissot, but like the overall simplicity of the Hamilton. I wouldn't mind trying Panerai at some point.

There is, well in my case there is. In fact not only watch and car, but motorcycle and my living too.
You see if it is mechanical and there is the slightest hint of engineering involved in the manufacture of said items, then I'm going to be interested!
Mind you, a watch has to be mechanical rather than electrical to get my interest!

Christmas of 2012, my wife gets me a Nike Fuel Band as a gift. I didn't even know what it was. It sat in the box until mid-February when my wife asked out of the blue how do I like the watch she gave me. Ummm...

I played college football as a SS. Always considered myself to be in "pretty good shape" and self-motivated. I'm 6' 1" and was 205 lbs that Feb of 2013. I always worked out 3-4 times a week. A "really busy day" at work, and it was easy to feel like I could skip the work out, "since I was so busy]"

Busy and exercise are not the same thing and the Fuel Band let's you know it.

18 months later and I'm 167 lbs. Quality isn't the greatest as I've had to replace it a couple of times for malfunctions. Better to replace the watch than need to replace a heart.

I wear my Polar brand heart rate monitor, which also displays the day, date, and time. It is very accurate since it uses a chest strap transmitter, unlike the various sports monitoring devices that use wrist sensors.

They're working on a new GPS-enabled model that is for driving enthusiasts. It will tell you when you're running out of time and have reached the end of the road.

I only have one watch: a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust. The only time it leaves my wrist is when I shower which, I suppose, is ridiculous considering that it is waterproof. Common sense tells me it's still better not to get it wet! So... it's the watch I wear whether I'm driving my XJL, my Ram pickup, Mustang convertible, or one of the old Pintos. I bought it in 2009 and it has been absolutely trouble-free, although it does have a tendency to gain about two minutes per month.
