Default Trouble programming garage door buttons

Hi,

I dont seem to be able to program these buttons. I have many other cars and have never had an issue. I have a rolling code door, I pressed the button on the main unit and then held down the key I want to program, 3 times (after I cleared them out)

Anyone else have this issue?

I also have a rolling code garage door opener and here is how I programed mine.

1: clear the codes in the car

2: program the car button you wish to use with the remote control from the garage door opener as stated in the manual.

3: press the button on the garage door opener and then press the button on the car 3 times as noted in the manual.

I had similar trouble programing mine also the key was to program using the remote control from the opener first then programing with the main unit second, the manual was not very clear on this.

Better instructions can be found on the Homelink website here

http://www.homelink.com/program.php

I think the step you are missing is after programming the button in the car, you need to press the learn button on your garage door opener itself and link it to the button in your car.

Don't feel bad. I did the exact same thing and made the same mistake. And I used both instructions until it clicked in my head. And I programmed a lot of those. Not sure why I had a mental block this time.

OUTSTANDING!!! Just went to the link provided by another_geek, and programmed both garage doors to the xj8 in less than 10 minutes. And yes, I did have to press the learn button on the openers Had been suffering for a few years swapping out hand held remote. No more though. The F-150 is next. I've got to catch up to the technology age......

I didn't have any luck learning the hand held garage remote but when I pushed the learn mode on the operator it worked right away.

I thought that my Jag wasn't getting the link installed. Then, I found that I have to hold the button down until the door responds. It ain't a quickie!
