I'm having an issue where every few weeks, the suspension motor and trunk lid fuses blow simultaneously on my 2016 XJL. This gives the suspension fault error and stops the trunk opening and closing under power. At first I thought it was just a coincidence, but they have blown together a few times now. Not immediately though.
Has anyone seen an issue like this before? I haven't had a chance to pull any codes yet.
The only thing I can suggest is the wiring that goes to the trunk lid has to flex everytime the trunk opens and closes. We have had several But not many reports of this causing broken wires. It then becomes intermittent as the wires sometimes connect and sometimes do not. This seems to match what you have going on?
So find the wire bundle that goes to the trunk lid from the body and unwrap it looking carefully for broken wires.
Report back if you fix it.

Hi, not fixed yet but I did find the issue. "A" is the wiring loom to the trunk motor module, which was sitting on top of "B" the loom to the suspension compressor. I'm at 144,000 miles, so there's a fair bit of time abrasion between those two and they are clearly shorting on each other.
Going to repair the wires, replace fuses and hope that works, but there might be other damage in the systems. I'll report back when I've done that, but something worth checking out for anyone else who has this issue. It looks like the wires could have routed the other way (B over the top of A), and I don't think they would have been in contact if they did.
While I do appreciate the close up pic, and would like to check mine, I could use bit more of a zoomed out pic to know where these wires are in the car. Or can somebody point me to a general area?
I have yet to take enough of this car apart to just "know" where stuff is located.
Good suggestion. This is the location, just behind the battery under the floor of the luggage compartment. I repaired the wires, replaced the fuses and all is working well.
Thank you @clubairth1 for your suggestion!
Hey thank you for filling in the blanks! It's no good if we give answers but never hear back? We are all just guessing on the internet!
Glad to hear your fixed and at almost no cost!
