Trunk?
I know there are hundred threads about it but I just completely went thru my wiring harness and even cut out 2 feet and replaced with longer wires to eliminate all bend areas and still no trunk release at dash or remote or growler button. Is there a fuse somewhere on this damn car thst controls that? I have no trunk lights but do have license plate lights. I have replaced micro switch and the plunger with working used parts. Nothing. There has to be a fuse for this!????? Anyone?
Have you checked the fuses in the trunk by the battery? The vehicle care handbook for the 2000 XJ shows that the release is fused in position #10, if the trunk is called the luggage compartment!
Are you checking for voltage at various points with a Volt Ohm Meter?
The VOM is your best friend. Radio Shack has pretty good ones for not
much. Make sure the bulb is good. I have a 12 volt power supply I use
to test used parts before installing them. That can save you a lot of
time when they are hard to access.

Well my used parts came off another xj8 I was driving. I know they work. My tag lights work. Just no trunk release up front or at growler and now no lights in trunk.
