No but make sure you get one with 2 GB/32GB and NOT the 1GB/16GB version. I have seen both advertised.
I wonder if the 7/6 OS can be updated to the current 8.1 OS?

I was interested in this as well but I'm an old fuddy-duddy who still uses an ipod for in-car music and the Android unit doesn't have a decent ipod interface. All I really want is album cover art to show on the display. Being able to display the Torque app readings would be nice also.

The Ipod interface I have had on universal Android units have been good. However, these Android units made to interface with the Jaguar OEM system don't have an Ipod interface. The Ipod interface that came with the car will have to be used. Like I said, all the old audio/video interfaces are still there. I too am an old fuddy-duddy, and have my 126GB Ipod classic hooked up through the Jaguar Ipod interface in the center console. The Jaguar interface(at least for my 2012 XJL), doesn't show album art though.

Yes, Torque, Dash Command, ODBLink, etc., will all work, just like any other app that would work on your cell phone.

Correct. Any unit with an OS newer than Android 4 will need 2GB of RAM for it to run good. 1GB with anything newer than Android 4 will run very sluggish when mulitasking(i.e. running Waze and Spotify at the same time).

I am still working on this and after several tries I have Andy with Canavie Technology talking to me via E-mail.
One VERY interesting comment is below;

The model you visited fits your car well.
Now we are updating its Android system and configuration.
I think it will be ready next month.

Very surprised with this and now am wondering exactly what's coming?
He claims he will E-mail me once it's ready to go.

Really hoping for a fast boot option and Oreo 8.1 OS upgrade
As always we are suffering from a bit of a language barrier so I maybe miss-interpreting what he is saying.

Oh that’s good to know. I’ve been working with that guy as well. I’ve been sorting through my Apple Play issues. Fastboot would be great but I would love for Apple Play to work and I wish the Subwoofer would work in Android mode. It’s disabled when I play music or videos directly from android.

The 10 inch screen wasn't available in the XJ until 2018.

I have the Android unit installed in my 2012 XJL. Fast boot is one of the things missing that I find annoying. After all, it has been availalbe on universal Android car stereos since Android 5. I don't really care about the software version, but if they have a unit with the fast boot option, despite already spending $750 on the one I have, I would gladly swap it out for a unit with fast boot.

I think you need to read the thread?
Yes we know the bigger screen came in 2018. This thread is NOT about that.

If it has fastboot, I will probaby be dropping another $750 to $1000 to upgrade mine. The unit in mine now is only 5 months old. Wonder if they take trade ins. LOL.

Latest product from Canavie on Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3295...chweb201603_53

I see they are now 4G/64G running Android 9. Kanor is selling theirs for around the same price, but it is only 2G/32G with Android 7.1. Which is kind of weird, because I am pretty sure the manufacturer supplying both vendors is the same(Merryway).

Thanks for the link! So we do see the updated version. I notice it says "limited quantity available".
So maybe not ready to order yet??

When I go to the link, it shows 105 pieces available, 30 pieces at most per customer. Honestly though, the upgrade to 4G/64G and Android 9 is not that big of a deal to me. If it doesn't have fastboot, or at least a sleep function, it wouldn't be worth me spending another $1000 to upgrade the one I already installed and spent $750 on it. I have a feeling that they only ugraded the ram/rom and operating system, without taking care of a few of the bugs or adding fastboot/sleep mode.

OK. I thought with the newer OS that fastboot might get integrated in as a standard feature?
Or is that something that a 3rd party provides separate from the OS?

Fast boot has been available in many(if not most) universal Android systems since MCU versions running MTCD, and Android 6 and above. I believe the problem is that the unit made for the Jaguar doesn't use a standard MCU firmware like the others do. Normally when you check system information on an Android head unit, under MCU version you will see MTCB, MTCC, MTCD, or MTCE, followed by a two or three digit manufacturer code, then a version number. For example, I had the vendor I am buying an Android head unit for my Porsche Cayenne, send me a screen shot of the MCU version. It shows this: MTCE_CZ_v3.10.2. That is MTCE, manufacturer is CHE-ZHUO, version is 3.10.2. That is similar to other 3 universal Android head units I have installed, except they were MTCD with different manufacturers and version numbers. The most significant factor, is that they are all using MTCX firmware versions. When I look at the MCU version for the head unit made for my Jag, under MCU version, you will see this number: A21JO501N50JLR0508(19703). TOTALLY different MCU firmware. Which makes sense. The head units made for the Jaguar XJ(X351), require that you remove the motherboards from the OEM unit and install them into the Android head unit. Other vehicle specific head units, like the one made for my Cayenne, just make a unit that will fit in the dash without a dash kit, and provide harnesses that are made to fit that vehicle without having to splice wires. So you are looking at an "out-of-the-ordinary" system interface with the units made for the Jag. So although I hope they do what they need to do to add fast boot, I am not going to hold my breathe waiting for it.
