Driver's Tire

Passenger's Tire

Purchased the car with 23,500 miles, now 41,070. Original owner had custom 22" wheels/tires I decline to purchase, so I assumed the dealer went with the cheapest they could find to put back on the factory 20" wheels.

The back tires look great, and from the outside so do the front. But when I turned the wheels all the way out to remove the bumper this is what I saw...shocking since I recently completed over 1,500 miles in two days last month!

IMHO It's alignment, toed out so inner tread wears faster.

Thanks. New tires on order followed by alignment.

My wife hit a pot hole a few weeks after she got her XJL and it did the exact same thing. Passenger side front was toed in and caused wear exactly like this but I caught it way before it got this bad.

I am really surprised the tires on this car have not failed yet...

My first Jaguar (2004 X-Type, purchased new) did that while still under warranty. The cure was to replace the steering rack. If I recall correctly, the car had about 8000 miles on it at the time.

That is either alignment or too much negative camber. You need an alignment and a front suspension bushes/bearings check.

No its only too much toe out, you would have to be more than -2.0 camber to even start getting inner tire wear and you cant even adjust the suspension tha far in. It is the most common wear pattern

Someone needs to check for bent or damaged suspension parts as well as wear to the bushes.

Once the new tyres are fitted and the vehicle set up on an alignment machine, have the shop doing the work provide you with the 'before' readings as they can tell how far out of specification the alignment really is.
