I've been poking around the XJ, done a full service, coded a key, found three keys coded to the car two of which I do not have. #

I tried to use the service option to 'replace lost or faulty key' and the system choked, the error shown was 'The keyless vehicle module fitted to the vehicle is incorrect, please check part number as it should be either BJ32 or DPLA.

The installed modules list shows the ecu core assembly part number as AH22-14C250-AB and an ecu delivery assembly of AH22-19H440-AD, the latter number matches the one on the case, the case is also showing a date code of 09-10-09 so I think this module is original factory install.

What is interesting is that the Jaguar part number for the 'RFA' is C2D44410 or seemingly C2Z31063, searching for this part number returns places selling either DPLA or AH22 under the same part number - at least if the images are to be believed. There is also information that would suggest these modules are a one shot deal from a programming perspective so a secondhand unit is essentially useless. There are also indications that to program one of these two keys are necessary I don't know how much truth there is in that or the one shot programming deal - since I added a smart key and that key works fully then clearly it can be programmed but you cannot remove keys, there is no option to do so, replace lost or faulty key is the only option and that triggers the error. There are two keys programmed in my XJ that I do not have, call me distrusting but I try to remove any keys not in my posesion to prevent nefarious sellers retaining a key then promptly stealing said car the easy way.

So what's the question ? - has anyone else experienced this module fitted is incorrect error ? - and what was the resolution ?.
