XJ 2014 Rear door wont open
The problem is you can't get the interior door panel off the door UNTIL you get the door open.
So you now have a chicken and egg problem. Yes it's simple to remove the interior door panel but you can't because you can't get the door open to do it.
On the S Type boards several guys have had to destroy the interior door panel to get access to the inside of the door.
One suggestion is to see if a lock smith can jimmy the rear door open with some of his "slim jim" tools. Then remove the interior door panel.

1. Remove the B pillar interior panel next to the front seat,
2. Pry behind the wooden panel to release the 2 clips then slide the panel to the front of the car,
3. Remove the 4 screws holding on the panel,
4. Roll down window
5. Pry off the door panel clips starting from the top
6. Remove seat bottom IF additional room was required (this is a 2 minute job with 4 levers and no bolts or screws)
The thing I do not know is how the actuator is bolted in or what it looks like. If it was bolted through the door frame in the door jamb area I don't even know if removing the panel would even be helpful unless you could break the assembly and do something to get it to release so you could open the door and remove the bolts. Cars....... You got to LOVE them!!!
I think the dealership tech would do something like that, destroying the panel would not necessarily be an option. That is just my INTERNET opinion with out actually looking at the car and trying to do it!
That was the thinking on the S Type board too. Until someone actually tried it. No dice!
The door panel would not come off when the door was closed.
It would be great if it does on the XJ!
Hope to hear back about the repair.

I've spoken with the dealer I bought it from (Arnold Clarke) and they have arranged to take the care and check it out. They have also assured me that my warranty should cover the repair. It goes in on Saturday - I will let you know - thank you all for your replies.
This morning I tried to open the rear door of my 2014 XJ from the outside, but the door would not open. All of the other doors open without problem. I tried to open the same door from the inside but it would still not open.
I have enabled and disabled the interior door locking but no change. I have pressed the interior locking on the door but nothing.
When the vehicle is locked if I pull the door handle then you can hear the car unlocking but the door will not open.
Anyone have any ideas?

Update on this for you. I took it to an Arnold Clarke dealer who sorted the problem for me. The catch had become disconnected inside the door. They fixed the problem and it was covered under warranty. Arnold Clarke were fantastic throughout, very helpful.
All sorted at no expense to me.
