Default XJ Meridian Sound Issue

Hi there,

I have a brand new XJ Long, and I've noticed the other day that one of my Meridian speakers started to produce a distorted sound when volume is in mid-range.

Is this issue covered by my warranty?

Thanks.

Most definitely this should be covered. When this happens, it is normally a cracked speaker (blown speaker). I would get it to them for a replacement right away, as it is probably driving you nuts, as it would me.

Good Luck!

Hi VRB

Thanks for your post.

As suggested by slojotaa, I would suggest seeking the assistance of your local authorised Jaguar repairer so that they may carry out a physical assessment of the concern with your vehicle. Should a manufacturing defect be confirmed by the retailer, then this would be covered under the terms of the manufacturers warranty.

Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to PM me and I will be happy to assist you where I can.

Regards

Ryan

Thanks.

Dealer replaced the speaker free of charge (my car is under warranty).

Great news. Doesn't dismiss the fact that this speaker shouldn't have gone so soon. Makes me question the quality of the system over the medium to long term??? Just saying, although I do respect the sound of the base system that just got delivered in my 2014XJL 3 weeks ago.

Awesome news
Listen away!

I am now getting worried about the quality of the system. 2 speakers should not blow like this, and I would question the compon. that are driving them now (Amp, Head unit etc.). This should not be, and frankly in all of my years owning a car with a system, I never had a speaker go like this, let alone 2. Push them hard on this as to "WHY"?????

This is grossly annoying to hear.

Good Luck
Joe

Absolutely... Asked them last time to not only replace the speaker, but to also investigate the underlying issue with the defect. I was told it was an issue only with a speaker and it's been sent to the vendor for analysis.

Will insist this time on a thorough investigation.

Thanks.
