Default XJL 2013 stereo buttons do not work when headlights are on

I have an XJL V6 2013 model and I noticed that the stereo buttons do not work at night only when I turn on the headlights.

Only the stereo buttons on the left side, the right side buttons work fine.

That kind of points to the clock-spring. Any other functions on the wheel act strange? Maybe turn the wheel and push the buttons to see if they work.
The click-spring is under the steering wheel and is a wear item.
Do you have a lot of miles on the car?

yeah that is really weird. Since it works when the headlights are off, i dont think the button itself is the problem, or else it would be non-functional all the time. I wish I could give you more insight.

Does it happen if you just turn on the parking lights?

Default Headlight switch wiring

I read that sometimes the wiring connected to the headlight control stalk can become frayed, exposing the wires (this was shown for other Jaguar models). Perhaps check the wires behind the steering wheel connecting to your indicator/headlight stalk.
