I have an opportunity to buy a 1995 XJ12 V12 for parts. The car is in very poor condition and not economical to restore.

I want to buy it for the 6.0 V12 for later use in an XJS.

The problem is that the motor is currently not running and has about 160,000 miles on it.

I think I read that this car should have a OBDII system. Please confirm if this is correct and the location of the port. I will plug in my code reader and see if there is a reason the engine is not running.

But who knows what might happen when you connect a battery and turn the key! Missing components and possible shorts from cut wires might prevent any data flow. Is the ECU still there? It is supposed to be in the right side footwell behind the panel on the right. Also the OBD connector is just to the left of the center console under the dash.

Did you see the thread right below called Scrap or Roughly Cut Gem? An engine like you've found would be a gamble unless you plan to rebuild it anyway.
