Default Is climate control fan speed tied to car speed?

The heater fan on my X305 ignores the manual setting until you driving less than 10mph, or have the recirculate button pushed. When I accelerate off, the fan shuts down. Is the fan supposed to do that?

I don't think so!

The fans will operate automatically (going faster or slower) while in the "Auto" mode (that makes sense!), but whenever you turn the fan speed control dial the system should come out of "Auto" mode and allow you to set the fan speed to stay where you want it.

Note that the fan makes more "air sound" when operating in the recirculate mode. It seems to be very quiet when not in recirculate, and airflow might not seem as high, but I think that is a perceived anomaly, not a real one.

EDIT: In my studies of the electrical guides, it appears that the A/C control module does have a vehicle speed input. Makes sense because in the Auto mode, there will be differences in the efficiency of the A/C and the heater when the vehicle is moving fast, and ambient air cooling might be a factor. So the module will for instance, control the heater valve and the fan speed. But again, in Manual operation the fan speed should stay where you put it regardless of vehicle speed.

G'day Jagsandmags,

There is a fan speed function related to vehicle speed see this attached extract from the 1995 technical guide.

Maybe the relays need checking.

Cheers,
Jeff.

I am willing to bet that this issue is in some way associated with the start/stop system (ergo, the suggestion that the no-repercussion disabling of the system be used to test the theory). Could the 2020 cars perhaps have had some (possibly minor) alteration made to the ECO function?
