1998 XJ8 L was working fine except when I unlocked the car using the keyless remote the drivers seat would fully recline. So today I was leaving the store unlocked the car with the remote and the seat laid back. The car would start but not run rough and not increase in speed when the gas pedal was pressed. The seat reclined there were strange noises from the audio system but no error messages or check engine warning displayed. I called our priest to see if the thing was haunted however he does not cover English cars as it is the wrong church involved in his opinion.
Anyway what do you thing ECU rolled over and lost its mind?
Hard reset ain't fixing it

Hi kimsxj8,
Some cars seem to be haunted! But the memory seat modules are well known to have a mind of their own. The earlier cars like mine have similar problems with seat memory and undesired movement. Properly working replacement modules are hard to find. Seems like they are all haunted!
I would say your running problem is a different problem altogether. Check in with the X308 section for all kinds of assistance. I am a 6/12 owner and the V8 is a completely different engine, although some other parts of the car were carried forward to the XJ8 series. Good luck!
