Default interchangeable parts?

Hello! I recently bought a 96 XJ12 that needs a bunch of work, most of which I can do just fine, but learning to Jaguar might be an experience.

anyways, what kind of things can be used from other Jags? specifically the X300s, and X308s?

previous owner cut out mufflers and installed straight pipes, and I want mufflers. I know I can just cut out and install mufflers but I think it would be easier to just bang in an OEM exhaust. Will an X308 exhaust work? I see lots of those care being parted out on FBMP, but not many older cars.

Welcome but before you get too busy you will be MILES ahead to run down the factory manuals for your car. I don't have that model but I would post a question to see if you can get one. There is a small sticky thread at the top of the forum that does have some stuff like the owners manual which would be helpful.

Hi- I bet you could make do with an X308 exhaust. If it’s a slightly smaller diameter, who cares. We don’t get to go Autobahm speeds

There is a ton of crossover with an X300. The wiring harness fell out of the fender on my car and got caught in the wheel, and a 6 cylinder harness was fine.

SNG Barratt’s online catalog mixes X300 and X305 together, with call outs to the “6.0”. Basically if they don’t list a 6.0 specific version you can use a 6 cylinder part.

Post a photo. We like pictures.

thanks for the reply.

unfortunately I don't have many photos. The car went right to storage for a month while I am away for work. I will get to fiddling with it when I get back.

I do have photos from the ad.

Then from loading it into my trailer.

I've got someone locally parting out an early 00's XJR. I will probably go snag the exhaust from that, as well as the headlights.

Curious about your experience with the 5x120mm BMW wheels on 5x120.65mm hubs.

The headlight lens bracket is needed as X300 is 4 palls post on back of lens and X308 is 3

The palls should be sprayed with penitrating oil least the pall can break off

Might consider removing lense still on car before rear bracket as car for a holding device

Mark each lens ( brand lettering on to top read straight forward ) before removal as they will not fare into sheet metal curces and a lot of frustration
