Can anyone tell me what this circled connector should be plugged into at rear top of engine? Old photo, the car is running fine but has been like this ever since I've had it.
My car has a similar loose plug in the same location and I thought it was for the air injection system, which my car does not have but your car does so that kills that theory.
I can not find anything in the circuit diagrammes which might suggest what it is so it remains a mystery and as you car does mine also runs perfectly.
The wiring harnesses were the same for all worldwide markets, hence the unused connector here and there around the car. Heated windshield, power wash, car phone etc. The power hookups you reminded me of are useful extras.
Ooh. Has anyone retrofitted the height adjusting headlight system to a US car yet?
that connector would be at the front of engine if it was headlight washer/levellers, It must be for something that was at the rear of the engine in some parts of world?
I think I figured all this out, back when I was replacing my airbag module. Thats connector PI156 at the engine. Connector PI155 is hanging loose around the RH A-pillar. I have not seen what these thermocouples or module look like. The power folding mirrors were standard in Japan too. I recall someone around here has (had) a Japanese market XJ12 in LHD.
Pretty cool to discover this kind of engineering data buried in the volumes, useful info too.

Another missing part ID request: the connector pictured is in the trunk by the battery. Any idea from anyone if this is supposed to connect to anything on a NAS xj12?

Accessory power. Provides (10A) fused battery and earth by default, switched ignition positive if relay is present in appropriate trunk fuse box location.
I use the trunk accessory socket for my battery maintainer. There's one in the driver kick panel that I use for a dashcam.

Aah thanks!
I've got the electrical book, couldn't find that info, what page is it on?
