Default Purchased a 96 XJ12

Hi everyone. I have been a forum member for some time but this is my first xj12. I have an xjs and xjr and have owned several other jags.
I purchased my xj12 in need of repairs which are underway. Not a perfect car but still a nice car with 110k miles.
I couldn’t pass it up I was faulty certain the non starting issue was something relatively simple
and it was. Turned out a tossed belt broke the cps wire. Bad harmonic balancer tossed the belt. So the balancer is off for a rebuild once I heard the engine run.
I am not sure what my plans are for the car. I had though the 6.0 liter would be a great engine for an xjs but doubtful I would do this but maybe

I have not found any posts where a 6.0 was swapped into an xjs. Anyone done this ?

Had my maiden voyage today in the xj12. I had some issues with the CPS being damaged for the bad harmonic balancer. Had to replace that and repair the damaged bolt that holds it in.
anyway car drive pretty well. I have a check engine light but that’s not surprising. A little uneven on idle probably a vacuum leak or stuck/sticky Aav. I will say the 6.0 feels much better than the 5.3 cars I have owned and own.
wojld really be a nice engine and trans setup in an xjs. I do know that they made some but I’m not a fan of the facelift xjs.

Congrats! I just had my first passengers in mine. My immediate family got a ride around the block.

Seems you have to be careful with terminology since these cars have a crank position sensor "CKPS", cam position sensor "CMPS", and a crank speed sensor "RPM SENS."

right. Ckps was my issue. When The rubber in harmonic balancer fails it allows that small timing ring on the back to run off center. This damaged the ckps and bent the little tab on the timing ring. I had to cut the tab off and weld it back in the correct position so it would not contact the ckps. Like I said I had a few issues.
I woukd recommend having dale rebuild these harmonic balancer before you have an issue. This would avoid the possible damage that can occur.

My mind was recently concentrated on getting a refreshed HB, but my cold start squeal was luckily just a slipping alt belt.
This is a reasonable price, but not in stock:
https://www.lbcarco.com/parts/damper...NA1411BA-1.htm
Even if one is on the shelf, $1300 is wicked scrillas:
https://www.jagbits.com/product/NNA1411BA-REB.html
Looks like waiting on turnaround from Dale is the cheapest route by a lot.

Dale is the way to go. He turned mine around very quickly. I was more than satisfied with the work and communication was great as well. For less than $200 you can’t beat it.

Has the car out for a long drive today. Really nice car for long drives. Not as sporting as the xjr but has its own feel that I like. I also fell the interior is better quality when compared to the x308.

Any of you guys interested in purchasing the car ? I really bought it as a project and have gone about as far as I want to take it. I want to focus on my XJS and the xjr.
