Default Restoration Project

I just got a 1996 Jaguar XJ6 from my old man. How much do you guys think it would cost me to pretty much fully restore the car? Engine and transmission is good!

Do you have the same make and model 1996 xj6? My engine and tranny appear to be good but I need to fix a couple things. Some cosmetic. Need my front left fender replaced, and a paint job. New Brakes, and Wheel Bearings, New Tires. And the car idles very high. I can lift the hood and make it idle normally, but the spring connected to the drive pedal is not strong enough, so it is like I am driving with my brakes!

Welcome to the forum Kae Hock,

You've posted in X305 section but I think you probably have a straight six cylinder X300 - either 3.2 or 4.0 litres?

The simple answer is a FULL restoration will cost a lot of money and certainly exceed the value of the finished vehicle.

If you are looking to repair mechanical issues to make it roadworthy and perhaps some cosmetic work on the body and interior to make it a good example for its year, that will be considerably less. Actual cost depends on what needs to be done and how much of the work you can do yourself.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Gonna go take some pics so that I can upload them for you guys! I said full restore, but what I meant was, get it back to being a "Bad *** On The Road" lol. The car is in pretty good shape. But needs wheel barrings, tires, front left fender, a couple of its eyes (lights) are poked out, if you know what I mean, and I need the issue fixed about it idling high. It has also lost its pick up. But its the 4.0 Liter engine. Isnt that the biggest engine they made for xj besides the xj12?

Are you going to paint the car yourself?
