Default Is it time to sell?

Been sitting on these XJ12's for some time now waiting for the right time to move them along. I am in no hurry but the used luxury car market is unusually strong right now. How long do you think this current run will last? Will the push to EV's pump up the used car market even more as the change becomes inevitable? I have seen some incredible prices paid on sites like BAT for ho-hum examples and it has gotten me to wonder if the time is upon us or if I should wait for the EV's invasion. I have too much iron in the shed and I don't want to miss the boat.

I'd like to see one of yours go on Cars&Bids, as a way to test your market. There have only been a couple of X300s there so far and no X305s. The one 94 XJ12 last year brought $8500 and the X305 is obviously a step up from that. I feel like that site is nearing its prime time now.

I agree you have the benefit of the market trend that has many oddball designs being pushed hard by the big brands and the government, which makes the market for fun, unusual and rare cars more desirable to find now as a hobby or an actual "driving" car. The XJ12 sure fits that market, especially in the US. It is a trend that will continue.

C&B takes a lot of due diligence on the part of the seller (you), but it would be exciting to see what happens. If not a great result, that's only one car, wait longer. And in case of a great result, you have a nice supply to offer up occasionally probably without ever losing the market.

Last couple of months on ebay:

3 XJ12s sold on ebay The black 96 is a real nice example, $8000 but with 105k miles, as compared to the pretty nice SWB blue (above) which had 79k but a few issues. Still $5100 is a good deal for it.

The 1994 XJ12/81 sold for $9300 on bidding. 55k miles. Must be near top of the market for this model. Had a questionable mileage history.

Ebay is not exactly known for its reliable bidders base, anything can happen there. The XJ81 bid history looks pretty legitimate. SWB blue not so much.

Start with a real clean car, not too high mileage, very clean title, fix all the silly little things that are broken, and I think you could do 9k-12k on Cars&Bids. So you're still not getting so rich yet.

As the EV push becomes reality I feel there will be an upscale market push for rare automobile examples. This is where I think mine will shine. I have thousands into each car keeping them fresh and intend on recouping the lion's share of that amount. When asking a premium price you must have a premium car. Rarely does any XJ12 bring a premium at any auction. Rarely are any XJ12's at auction premium cars.
I think the best way to go about this would be to put 3 or 4 up for sale privately at the same time as a group to attract attention, but selling them individually. Have an advertising budget that is nationwide. Tout the rarity of these examples to attract actual or wanna be collectors.
When you go into a Jaguar dealership you will usually see an example of a old Jaguar on the showroom floor for sale at a ridiculous price. When the dealerships are full of EV's maybe this is my market?

If I was in it for the money (which I never am), I would sell one at a time and wait about 3+ months then sell another one. The more that’s on the market at once I feel is a way to bring less bidders. It’s the whole supply and demand situation.
