Default What Oil to Use

hello!

I finally got my 1995 XJ12 delivered (its absolutely AMAZING) however the first thing on the list is to change the oil. I assume that 20w-50 is the best to run in these cars and stick with conventional as its an old engine design. Am I incorrect or is following the manual in the glovebox (or lack there of since mine's an early '95) the correct move?

We used 15W40 MOBIL regular oil for all straight six and V12 engines when I worked at the dealer. (1990s-2006)

Climate can determine the viscosity but 20W 50 is a good choice.

Mobil synthetic? I don't see any listings for Mobil non synthetic these days.
I just had an oil leak and lost oil pressure on a short journey today, going to be an interesting few weeks hopefully ending in an oil change....

Isn't that full synthetic going to mess up your oil seals if they've had years of last century juice?

Castrol 20W50 is still sold at WALMART in 5 quart jugs.
Buy it and go on with your life.

Va;voline or whatever 20 50 is on sale. Been using that for a very long time in various critters. No oil issues...
