Your thoughts on oil types??

Thinking of chaging the oil for the first time since I got it and was wondering what is the best oil and oil type to use?? I was thinking a high mileage 10w-30 or maybe going synthetic blend or full synthetic.. What is the best oil in your opinion for a 206k+ mile 1995 XJ6??

Been using Mobil 1 10/40 or 20/50for many years in different vehicles including lawn mower and no problems of any kind.

We will be using Castrol's full synthetic 10 W 60 in my XJ40 once it's up and runnin lol . I normally stick to what's written in the owen's oppss owner's manual

Most important thing is to keep the changes up. Use a good name brand oil and change it!

I've been using Mobil 1 5W-30 full synthetic in all my cars previously, which have been 4-bangers. I've never had a 6 before. I live in Colorado so the temp ranges from 100 in the summer to -20 in the winter. Hmmm...

yea i live in a wide ranged climate called Buffalo, NY haha. My uncle is from CO but I use 20W-50 in summer and 10W-40 in winter. Both being Castrol GTX high mileage or the full syntec. 20W50 is a bad bad idea for cold climated like ours in winter!! But it works well in hot summers. Keeps the oil pressure good and mine have always run great with it. Come to think of it I used 20w50 when I bought my old bimmer this summer but the weather is aldready starting to drop so I better get on that oil change back to 10w-40 soooon! Hope this helps.
