Default 05 super V8 - trans opinions please

car runs . drives great , but im looking at 121k miles soon. no shifting issues etc etc. me being an enthusiast and therefore maintenance minded like most of us , am kicking around a trans service at this point. should I "don't fix it if it aint broke" ?? I don't put heavy miles on the car , it wont see snow etc etc. its nice days , going out , going into the city (not street parking).

Please go ahead and get a fluid, filter and sealing sleeve change. Be sure to use compatible fluid. LG6 optimal, Mercon SP ok also.

Steel pan, gasket, with Cobra filter is a great option.

The official advice from ZF changed some years ago and is now that the fluid and filter should be changed every 50,000 to 75,000 miles or every 8 years (whichever occurs first).

121k is a lot of miles for any transmission to go without an oil change. As Partick points out, you are overdue for your first change. Maintenance should be done before the car breaks down so "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" doesn't apply. Get er done.
